Anti-Nav1.8 antibody ab114110
Overview
Product name
Anti-Nav1.8 antibody
Description
Goat polyclonal to Nav1.8
This product is a fast track antibody. It has been affinity purified and shows high
titre values against the immunizing peptide by ELISA.

Specificity
In preliminary western blot experiments ab114110 gave an ~150kDa band in Rat spinal cord
and Mouse NIH3T3 lysates at 1ug/ml. This band was blocked by addition of the immunizing
peptide. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we
observe given the calculated size of 221kDa according to NP_033160.2.
Species reactivity
Reacts with: Mouse, Rat

Target
Relevance
Nav1.8 protein mediates the voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability of excitable
membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference
across the membrane, Nav1.8 forms a sodium-selective channel through which sodium ions may
pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. It is a tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium
channel isoform. Nav1.8 plays a role in neuropathic pain mechanisms.
Cellular localization
Integral membrane protein. Nav1.8 can be translocated to the extracellular membrane through
association with S100A10.
