Subject: PNWCG Web Site
At the Annual Workshop held in February and the February Steering Committee meeting a number of decisions were made regarding the web site. The purpose of these changes is to improve communications between all components of PNWCG thru improvements to the web site. Our intent is to have these procedures fully implemented by November 1, 2010.
The Steering Committee section of the web site will include:
The PNWCG charter
Steering Committee membership
Work Team and Advisory Councils Chairs and Steering Committee Liaisons
Steering Committee meeting notes and attachments
The PNWCG SC Strategic Plan, Program of Work and Accomplishment Report
The Annual Operating Plan
The Master Agreement
Task Orders
PNWCG SC correspondence;
Information on special initiatives
FAQ's/SOP's - For example: How to get a topic on the SC agenda? How to process a letter or
Task Order? How to revise a charter? SC meeting dates?
Each Work Team and Advisory Council will have the following information available thru the PNWCG web site:
Their team or council charter
Program of work
Meeting dates
Meeting notes
Currently the GIS, IBP and Training WT’s have off site host for their web sites with a link on the PNWCG web site. This approach is fine however we will avoid placing information on both the PNWCG web site and the remote host web site. These teams are requested to
2 provide the name of the manager of their web site and that person’s contact information to
PNWCG Web Master Jim Edmonds at jedmonds@fs.fed.us
.
In the recent revision of the PNWCG Mission Statement, Charter and Operating Principles the task of resolving any issues regarding the web site and its usage was assigned to the
Steering Committee Vice Chair.
To place documents on the PNWCG web site: 1) Have the Work Team or Advisory
Council chair approve the document as being ready for posting; 2) Send your information and files to jredmonds@fs.fed.us, or forward a link if they are in the PNWCG document library already a recommended filename convention is:
descriptive-name-of-document.yyyymmdd.ext
Examples: aviation-wt-meeting-agenda.20100318.pdf
PNWCG-2010-Program-of-Work.20091231.doc
SteeringCommittee_Meeting_Notes_and_Handouts.2010318.zip
The format of the descriptive name itself is not important, but because of the way some (our) web servers are configured, it does help to avoid spaces, #s, and &s in document names. Getting the date part will help your files sort
On the document page properly, and the extension will allow the page to assign an icon to the download link for common file formats.
