NW Center Manager’s Advisory Council Conference Call: August 5, 2010 In attendance: DNR, BMC, CBD, COC, EIC, JDC, KFC, MIC, CVC, VAD, WSA, CCC, COA, CWC, NEC, NWCC. Item 1: Approval of the NW CMC Strategic Intent and Operating Principles---Approved by consensus. Item 2: Strategic Planning Task Group Update The task group has not yet convened due to fire season. The group’s plan is to hold a conference call or series of conference calls to develop broad program areas that encompass and define the dispatch business. The group would also develop a goal for each of the program areas. At the Fall Center Manager’s conference, work groups will be assigned to draw up objectives and eventually strategies for each of the program areas. The larger group will reconvene, prioritize strategies and develop a program of work. Item 3: ROSS Status Task Group The task group hasn’t convened due to fire season. This task will also be an agenda item for the Fall Center Manager’s Conference. Item 4: Other Business Sherry Kessel, EIC, asked the purpose of the 1000 NW Dispatch Center Call, stating the opinion that, from office to office, once you get beyond the local neighborhood, much of the information has little value. Mark Hayes, CWC, agreed. Grant Kemp, COC, uses the information but stated that not everyone follows the call template. Jim Holroyd, CVC, stated that he thought NWCC wanted the information provided in the call. Tom Evans, MIC, felt that the more esoteric information (info other than shared resources) was of greater importance during busier fire seasons. Steve Arasim, CCC, felt the call provides the opportunity to hear from offices that don’t send out status information. ACTION ITEM: Dan O’Brien will resend the call template and ask that Centers follow the agreed format. Jim Holroyd has the Aircraft Use Report for Safety Officers available and anyone who wants a copy can contact him. NEXT CALL: Thursday, September 9th @ 1300. NOTE: Seems like we have agenda items beginning to accumulate for the Fall conference…it’d be a good idea to start thinking about other business issues to discuss, as well as how we want to conduct the meeting……………Thanks, Dan
