Prof Cappuccio elected Vice-President of
the British Hypertension Society
We are delighted to announce that Prof Francesco Cappuccio, Chair of
Cardiovascular Medicine & Epidemiology in the Division of Health Sciences
(Mental Health & Wellbeing) and Consultant
Physician at the UHCW NHS Trust, has been
elected as Vice-President of the British
Hypertension Society (BHS) for the term 20152017. He will re-join the Executive Committee that
he served as Treasurer (2005-09) and Ordinary
Member (2009-12).
Prof Cappuccio has been a member of the BHS
since 1986 and was elected as Inaugural Fellow of
the BHS in 2014. For the past 30 years he has
contributed to the field of hypertension and cardiovascular disease both
clinically and academically.
He trained at Charing Cross Hospital, St George’s Hospital and the London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London. He is the Director of the
European Society of Hypertension Centre of Excellence at UHCW in Coventry
and Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for
Nutrition at the University of Warwick. He is author of more than 400
publications. He is advisor to NICE and the WHO and Trustee of the Student
Heart Health Charity.
