Educational Leadership Professor Abul Pitre Publishes with World Renowned Professors Abul Pitre professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling recently published a chapter in the “SAGE Guide to Educational Leadership and Management”. The book was edited by Fenwick English the R. Wendell Eaves Senior Distinguished Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. In the book’s introduction, Dr. English highlight’s Prairie View A&M University. Pitre’s chapter in the book is titled, “Charter Schools and the Privatization of Public Education: A Critical Race Theory Analysis”. In addition, Pitre recently published “The Educational Philosophy of Elijah Muhammad: Education For A New World” with a foreword from world renown curriculum theorist and educational scholar William F. Pinar. Pinar is Professor and Canada Research Chair at the University of British Columbia. He also made a contribution to the “The SAGE Encyclopedia of African Cultural Heritage in North America” contributing two chapters, “The Nation of Islam” and “Afrocentric Leadership”. The encyclopedia was co‐edited by world renowned scholar on African American Education Mwalimu Shujaa. In January of 2015, Pitre published “Educational Leaders and Multicultural Education: A Critical Race Theory and Antiracist Perspective” which was reviewed by Floyd Beachum Associate Professor at Lehigh University, Christine Clark Endowed Professor at University of Nevada Las Vegas, Lamont Flowers Professor and Director of African American Education at Clemson University. Pitre’s work also appeared in Teacher’s College Record in February 2015 where he published the book review “Gender, Identity and Educational Leadership”. During that same month Pitre’s co‐edited book “African American Women Educators” was reviewed in Teachers College Record. Pitre currently has a co‐edited book in press with leading African American Studies Professor Dr. James Conyers , the Director of African American Studies at the University of Houston. Their co‐edited book “Africana Islamic Studies” is being published by Lexington Books. Pitre’s book, “The Educational Philosophy of Elijah Muhammad: Education For A New World” is available at the Prairie View A&M University Bookstore and Monster Books in Cypress Texas.
