On Wednesday, October 10, Jill Farrell, Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor, Institute for
Innovation and Implementation, School of Social Work, University of Maryland, will be the
next seminar speaker. Come hear her talk at 4 p.m., S209 Henderson. Dr. Farrell’s expertise
and interest areas are the development and implementation of assessment and case
management systems; and racial disparities through comprehensive training approaches.
At this fall’s PRC retreat, Jennifer Ford of the Harrisburg Center for Healthy Child
Development talked about this Capital area-based center, which is a valuable resource for PRC
researchers and a PRC hub. The HCHCD has office and data collection space, including a oneway mirror/lab. A partnership with CAECTI (Capital Area Early Childhood Training Institute)
provides trainings and technical assistance. The Center’s part-time team of research assistants
is well trained and certified in data collection and knowledgeable about the community. If you
would like further information or plan to conduct research in the Harrisburg area, please
contact Jennifer at 717-260-9636 or mailto:jmf238@psu.edu.
The Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) is seeking applications for upcoming
Policy Fellowships for 2013–2014. There are two types of fellowships: Congressional and
Executive Branch. Both provide Fellows with exciting opportunities to work in Washington, DC
and use their research skills in child development outside of the academic setting to inform
public policy. Fellows work as resident scholars within their federal agency or Congressional
office placements. For more information: http://www.srcd.org, Policy/Communications tab
