Enporion Customers Awarded $247 Million in Smart Grid Grants Tampa, FL – December 2, 2009 – Enporion, e-marketplace to the utility industry, has several utility customers who were awarded over $247 million dollars of the $3.4 billion in government grants that will help build a smart grid. The grants range from $400,000 to $200 million, and will go to 100 companies, utilities, manufacturers, cities and other partners in 49 states. Primarily the projects are focused on the areas of Advanced Metering, Customer Information Systems and improvements to the electrical infrastructure. The utilities are buyers in the Enporion e-marketplace where electronic procurement and sourcing are offered in a Software-as-a-Service environment. Suppliers are lining up to transact electronically with the utilities. Itron, Landis+Gyr and GE are leading in deals for next-gen smart meter contracts according to the report.
