The Digital Media Literacy Lab is required for students who are taking Digital Media Literacy, to enable them
to use multimedia hardware and software to analyze and develop multimedia projects for DM 10.

Students enrolled in DM 10, Digital Media Literacy.
Approximately 30-40 students/semester.

1. CATALOG DESCRIPTION:
An activity course enabling students to develop assignments given in DM 10. Students will receive one on
one and small group instruction in the use of multimedia development software to create applications
combining text, graphics, audio, video, animation, and interactivity.

1. COURSE OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:
List the primary instructional objectives of the class. Formulate some of them in terms of specific measurable student

student will be able to:

Run and analyze digital media projects in terms of design, storyboard, content, and purpose;
2.
Design digital media projects using problem solving methods, design concepts, and storyboard;
3.
Create well designed small digital media projects using digital media hardware, software, and pre-made videos,
sounds, and artwork on CD-ROMS.
2. COLLEGE LEVEL CRITICAL THINKING TASKS/ASSIGNMENTS:
Degree applicable courses must include critical thinking tasks/assignments. This section need not be completed for noncredit courses. Describe how the course requires students to independently analyze, synthesize, explain, assess,
anticipate and/or define problems, formulate and assess solutions, apply principles to new situations, etc.

Students will use problem solving techniques and good design concepts to create first a storyboard and then
create a digital media application for a specific problem.

Students will also analyze pre-written digital media applications in terms of design, content and purpose.
