Executive Advisory Committee Meeting AB86
Minutes and Actions of the Committee
Eureka Main Campus, Room SS 104 November 13, 2014
Attendees: Julia Peterson, Rick Jordan, Bill Damiano
11 AM
I. Brief Introduction, Updates, and Review of Minutes
October 31 Draft Report submitted and accepted. AB86 has introduced a format for the December 31 Draft submission. CR is closed the week of Christmas, so our timeline is somewhat compressed.
We are continuing to develop and diagram specific career pathways for the region.
Passage of Proposition 47 has already begun to attenuate the Humboldt County Jail population, so some Dual Enrollment Credit classes may be delayed or postponed.
The $43 million Eureka City Schools bond package for repairs and new construction will probably pass in the final count.
II. Review of Regional Comprehensive Plan Objectives
We have collected and compiled all of the data from the Regional Focus
Workgroups and will continue to refine the 7 Regional Comprehensive Plan
Objectives of the planning grant.
III. Organization and Planning for December 5 th
Partners and Stakeholders
Meeting
A two-hour lunch meeting seems like the best format for the Partners and
Stakeholders Meeting. The Committee will present material from the Draft Reports, attempt to answer questions from the previous meeting, introduce new information, and address current questions and concerns.
IV. December 31: Draft Regional Comprehensive Plan and Expenditure Report
Due
Julia will continue to inform the Committee by email, and, if necessary, we will schedule a conference call before December 5. The Committee will review the

binder presentation materials and offer feedback before the December 31 Draft submission. The Committee will meet briefly after the Partners and Stakeholders meeting on December 5 to discuss any additional amendment to the December 31
Draft, and to decide whether or not to meet again on December 18, as currently scheduled.
V. Discussion
Julia will discuss the status of nonprofit literacy programs under AB86 with representatives from Humboldt Literacy Project and Del Norte Reads.
Other rural consortia are reporting many of the same difficulties we have encountered so far, including challenges in data collection and reporting, sparse attendance and subdued participation in some Workgroups, and other demographic and geographic barriers. We are, however, encouraged by our successes and moving forward with confidence.
VI. Next Steps: Set 2015 Meeting Dates
The Committee will schedule meetings in January, February, and March, on the 4 th
Thursday of each month from 11 AM to 1 PM, on the CR Main Campus in Eureka.
