Year 13 A Level Revision Bootcamp 2016 Wednesday 1st – Friday 3rd June, 9:30am – 5:00pm Thursday, 10 March 2016 Dear Teacher, The University of Warwick is committed to raising not only the aspirations of widening participation students, but also their attainment, in order that they can maximise their potential. As a result we are offering Year 13 students the chance to take part in a free 3 day A Level Revision Bootcamp, in a subject of their choosing. Students will learn, revise and study one subject area intensively, with the chance to review progress through assessments and 1-2-1 feedback. Content will also cover transitions to University and what to do on results day. Each day will be hosted on Campus, here at the University of Warwick, but delivered by qualified Teachers with years of experience in their subject areas. We are aiming to provide a packed few days which will be constructive, valuable and enjoyable, providing full refreshments, resources and a chance for concentrated time of revision. Subjects Covered: Subject Exam Board Topic English Literature English Literature AQA AQA Love through the Ages Gothic History History Psychology Chemistry Mathematics Biology AQA OCR/Edexcel AQA A AQA and OCR AQA and OCR AQA Unit 3: Elizabethan (H1S3B) US Civil Rights Unit 4 including QWC AQA Units 4&5/OCR F324 and F325 C3/C4 Unit 4 and 5 Who is Eligible? In the first instance, this opportunity is aimed at students from the local area, due to the nature of the event being over three consecutive days, with attendance compulsory at all three. In order to be eligible, students must have applied through UCAS in this academic year and meet at least one of the criteria below (Priority will be given to students who meet more than one criteria): Come from a home where neither parent/carer has attended university in the UK; Have been in receipt of or eligible for free schools meal/pupil premium over the last 6 years (Ever Six); Be in current receipt of a means tested bursary; Lives in an eligible postcode area (neighbourhood with low progression rate to higher education or with high levels of deprivation)*; Lives in or having lived in local authority care. * postcode eligibility can be checked by the event manager. The student and their parents/carers would need to complete Part One and you, Part Two.
