EGSA International Education Advisory Committee (IntEAC) Representative Position Description and Responsibilities 1. Overview The International Education Advisory Committee (IntEAC) Representative reports to the Education Graduate Student Association’s Executive Team. This member is responsible for representing and advocating for the EGSA and all education graduate students on the International Education Advisory Committee (IntEAC). The IntEAC is a Faculty-level committee charged with advising the Faculty on matters pertaining to international education and other initiatives. In addition to being able to vote on the IntEAC, the representative reports back to the EGSA and Executive on the activities of the committee. The IntEAC is chaired by the Associate Dean, Academic and is driven also by the Director of International Education, who is a non-voting member. 2. Responsibilities Overview This is a breakdown of the approximate amount of time spent on the main categories below. Area of responsibility Attending IntEAC Meetings Reporting IntEAC activities to EGSA Percentage time allocated 1.5 hours, once a month 30 minutes, 15-20 minutes to prepare and 5-10 to share in monthly EGSA meetings 3. Voting and important documents are circulated via email frequently. Book the meetings in your calendar ASAP. As of September 2014 the meetings are usually on Mondays from 1-2:30p, earlier in the month and the location is on Burnaby campus. In cooperation with the Associate Dean, Academic, the Executive and the Director of the Office of International Education, contribute to strategic plans of the Faculty with respect to international activities. 2. Support the activities of the Office of International Education and the Faculty Program Committees and contribute as appropriate to planning and implementation of international activities. 3. Enrich the life of the Faculty through promoting events and scholarship in international education in cooperation with the Centre for Research in International Education (CRIE). Composition 1. The Associate Dean, Academic (Chairperson). 2. The Director of the Office of International Education (non-voting). 3. Three faculty members elected by and from the faculty. 4. One FA or Coordinator elected from Professional Programs. 5. Two students, one of whom must be elected from and by members of the Education Graduate Students Association, and the other who may be an undergraduate or graduate student. 6. Non-voting faculty members and staff to serve as resources to the committee. Terms of Office 1. Terms of office for faculty members will be two years and membership will normally begin on August 1st. 2. Terms of office for students and FAs and Coordinators shall be one year and will normally begin August 1st. 3. If a member is to be absent for a period of up to one semester, the Committee may name an alternate. If a member is to be absent for a longer period s/he will be replaced on the Committee by election (faculty member) or nomination (student member). EGSA: IntEAC Representative DRAFT 3
