Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Joanni Sailor
“Do
what you love and the money will come. Satisfaction in life is
fulfilling and it works best if we love where we work”. These words by Dr.
Joanni Sailor speak directly to others with a dream of success. Dr. Sailor
was born in Oklahoma but spent most of her formative years in North
Texas. In 1986, she moved to Lawton and has lived here since with her
husband of 20 years, their 16 year old daughter and a pet cat named
Silver. In 2006, Dr. Sailor received her Ph.D. in Psychology with a
concentration in the area of Marriage and Family. When asked why she
chose marriage and family as her field of interest, as opposed to
individual psychology, Dr. Sailor revealed that “marriage and family fits
my belief theory and my world view more than the individual aspect of
psychology”. According to Dr. Sailor, psychology was not her first choice
when choosing her major. When she entered the university as a
freshman she enrolled as an accounting major but later found that her
true passion was in the field of psychology.
During her leisure time Dr. Sailor enjoys visiting and spending time with
her family, reading, attending church and working on the computer. It
was revealed that the entire Sailor family loves the wide world of computers and that they enjoy learning about new cyber technologies, especially Mr. Sailor who is employed in the field of Information Technology.
Presently, Dr. Sailor is working on creating a manuscript from her
dissertation. Welcome to Cameron University Dr. Sailor!
