Resolution on establishing the Tuesday in the second full week of September as “Rep Your
Roots” Day as a Campus-Wide Event
Whereas:
Globalization has made the world smaller and exposes us to the truth that we
are all inhabitants of the same global community and should work together to
make our world better and celebrate our differences; and
Whereas:
Middle Tennessee State University is a major comprehensive learning institution
that explicitly values the diversity of its student population; and
Whereas:
Middle Tennessee State University presently promotes the idea of
interculturalism in an effort to foster personal development and communitybuilding; and
Whereas:
Middle Tennessee State University is comprised of students representing
different ethnic, racial, cultural, national, and international backgrounds;
therefore, be it
THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE 72st CONGRESS OF THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT
ASSOCIATION OF MTSU THAT:
Section 1: That the Student Government Association hereby establishes the Tuesday of the
second full week in September as “Rep Your Roots” Day here at MTSU as a day for all students
to celebrate their respective ethnic, racial, cultural, national and international heritages in a
campus-wide manner.
