Proceedings
Meeting called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Ronna Vanderslice as a make-up for the
meeting scheduled on February 25, 2013, which was cancelled due to inclement
weather.
Director of Teacher Education Report – tabled until next meeting due to the lengthy
agenda.
Last month’s meeting minutes were approved.

1. Approved minutes from the previous meeting are posted at

New Business
1. Request for Program Modification – B.S. in Social Studies – to drop
SOCI 1113 as a required course, move HIST 1113 to a major
requirement, and move HIST 2113 to a required humanities. Teresa
Lubrano made a motion to approve the change, and Jennifer Dennis
seconded. The motion was approved.
2. Request for Program Modification – B.A. in Math – to change the
methods class from 2 hours (MATH 4772) to 3 hours (MATH 4773)
changing the core hours from 41 to 42 and moving the literature
requirement from general education to additional courses. Vivian
Thomlinson made a motion to approve the change with corrections
made to the paperwork, and Stephanie White seconded. The motion
was.
3. Request for Program Modification – B.S. in Early Childhood Education
– to move the social studies and science electives from general
education to additional courses. Claudia Edwards made a motion to
approve the change, and Teresa Lubrano seconded. The motion was
approved.
4. Request for Program Modification – B.S. in Elementary Education – to
move the social studies and science electives from general education
to additional courses. Travis Childs made a motion to approve the
change, and Vivian Thomlinson seconded. The motion was approved.
5. Request for Program Modification – M.Ed. in Education – to show
that EDUC 5333 and EDUC 5343 are combined into one class, EDUC
5333, which is a required core course for the degree. Travis Childs
made a motion to approve the change, and Vivian Thomlinson
seconded. The motion was approved.
6. Request to Modify a Course – MATH 4772 – to change the number of
hours from two to three. Sarah Peckinpaugh made a motion to
approve the change, and Claudia Edwards seconded. The motion was
approved.
7. Request to Modify a Course – BIOL 1004 – to change the description
to clarify the math pre-requisite. Jennifer Dennis made a motion to
approve the change, and Stephanie White seconded. The motion was
approved.
8. Request to Modify a Course – BIOL 1364 – to change the description
to clarify the math pre-requisite. Howard Kuchta made a motion to
approve the change, and Vivian Thomlinson seconded. The motion
was approved.
9. Request to Modify a Course – BIOL 2034 – to change the description
to clarify the math pre-requisite and add general biology as a prerequisite. Claudia Edwards made a motion to approve the change,
and Holly Rice seconded. The motion was approved.
10. Request to Modify a Course – BIOL 2124 – to change the description
to clarify the math pre-requisite. Michelle Smith made a motion to
approve the change, and Claudia Edwards seconded. The motion was
approved.
11. Request to Modify a Course – BIOL 2134 – to change the description
to clarify the math pre-requisite and to clarify the combination of
courses needed as pre-requisite. Michelle Smith made a motion to
approve the change, and Vivian Thomlinson seconded. The motion
was approved.
12. Request to Modify a Course – EDUC 3513 – to change the prerequisite to be pre- or co-requisite. Michelle Smith made a motion to
approve the change, and Claudia Edwards seconded. The motion was
approved.
13. Request to Modify a Course – EDUC 5333 – to change the course from
an elementary focus to a general focus. Claudia Edwards made a
motion to approve the change with a typo correction on the
paperwork, and Holly Rice seconded. The motion was approved.
14. Request to Delete a Course – EDUC 5343. Teresa Lubrano made a
motion to approve the deletion, and Sarah Peckinpaugh seconded.
The motion was approved.
15. Request to Add a Course – EDUC 5303 – to make the course official as
it had been taught as a special topics course and then was added
through the modification of an old course which had been deleted.
Howard Kuchta made a motion to approve the addition, and Claudia
Edwards seconded. The motion was approved.
