Announcements/Discussion Items
A. Advisement and admission reminders – no issues reported
B. Assessment system and timeline for “new” programs
Data collection falls into two categories
a. Unit data – what students do to get admitted and pass through
the program (transition points)
b. Program Report data – data on 8 key program assessments
The following program report data is also considered unit data: OSAT
scores, grades used at program admission, student teaching
assessment, Teacher Work Sample.
C. Data collection, presentation, and documentation for Advisory
Committee Meeting
For the next advisory committee meeting, you will need to provide data
on program assessments. Besides OSAT scores, Howard Kuchta does
not have access to any data not in Chalk & Wire. This data will need to
be submitted early so that Howard can put it in a meaningful format. To
determine what data is most important for the advisory committee to
review, each program could use departmental assessment committees
to preview the data. This could be similar to the PQIR process where
departmental faculty determine which data to present as part of the
PQIR. Each program will also want to make sure that the department
chair has seen the data prior to its being presented to the advisory
committee. If any program is in need of post-graduate survey data, the
education department already has a system for ensuring the
completion of a survey by the graduate, employer, 1st year mentor
teacher, and university supervisor. If would be reasonable for a
program to add a content addendum, similar to the one used during
student teaching, to that survey. For the next TEC meeting, consider
the assessment chart and a timeline for advisory committee meeting(s),
perhaps in conjunction with PQIR.
D. Data collection for program reports—approval to student
teach/graduate
