Cameron Reach Higher waiver helps adult
students
Financing a college education will be much easier for some students enrolled in the Adult Degree
Completion program at Cameron University, part of a statewide initiative known as ReachHigher:
Oklahoma’s Degree Completion Program. University officials announced recently the availability of the
new ReachHigher tuition waiver to qualifying students.
“Cameron is committed to helping adult students complete their bachelor’s degree,” said Lance Janda,
Ph.D., Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management. “The ReachHigher tuition waiver is an
integral part of this commitment, encouraging more adult students to complete their college education by
alleviating some of their financial concerns.”
A maximum of 15 recipients will be selected to receive $500 per fall, spring and summer semester.
Recipients must enroll in and complete 12 hours during the fall and spring semesters, six hours during the
summer semester and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. The award is worth a maximum of $1,500 over
three consecutive semesters.

“This program is an outstanding opportunity for students who have been out of school to complete their
education while keeping up with family and work obligations,” said Janda about the program.
ReachHigher is a flexible, affordable degree program for working adults who want to finish their bachelor’s
degrees. Students can enroll in the program five times throughout the year.
To be eligible for ReachHigher, students must: be at least 21 years of age, have not attended a university
as a full-time student within the past year, have completed 72 or more college credit hours, have a
minimum of 2.0 grade point average in past college course work, and meet remediation and general
education requirements as determined by the University.
Courses are offered primarily online in eight-week segments with a few evening class times for certain
courses. Students are placed into classes with their peers so they can share experiences with other
working adults.
Students who successfully complete the program will earn a Bachelor of Science in organizational
leadership from Cameron University. This degree prepares students for success in government, nonprofit,
corporate or industrial careers. State business and education leaders created the degree program so
working Oklahomans can advance their careers, increase their incomes and build Oklahoma’s economy.
