For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, May 2, 2007 CU professor elected President of national organization, receives award Multimedia Associate professor Abbas Johari, Ph. D., has been selected to become the President of the International Division (ID) of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) in 2009. As part of his duties, he will serve ID as President-elect next year. AECT is one of the top associations for the fields of educational communications and technology. It is a professional association of thousands of educators and others whose activities are directed towards improving instruction through technology. ID is one of the major divisions of AECT. Its mission is to facilitate communication among educational technology professionals and students worldwide, promote interactions that transcend international boundaries and cultural lines by mentoring and fostering educational endeavors and coordinate communication with sister associations around the world. “I am looking forward to serving this worthwhile organization,” said Johari. “During my period as President, I will strive to increase the meaningful international perspectives of educational communication and technology globally and nationally and continue to support the ID tradition of encouraging AECT members, particularly students, to join ID and immediately involve them in important ID affairs.” -more- Johari, ADD ONE Johari has served ID as a board member and held many positions including Communications Officer, and the Outstanding Practice by a Student of Educational Technology Award Coordinator. He has also served as an official representative of Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D) as the editor of International Review . Both the ETR&D Board and other section editors of ETR&D have continuously commended International Review for the quality of its papers and its editorial and managerial process. Johari has also been recognized for his service to ETR&D as a member of the Development Board of Consulting Editors since 2005. This is one of most the well-respected, honorably recognized memberships of the ETR&D editorial board.
