For Immediate Release – Lawton, OK, Dec. 9, 2004 Cameron University professor presents research at international convention Cameron University’s Dr. Abbas Johari recently presented his research at the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) International Convention in Chicago. Johari, an associate professor of multimedia design, presented “Attribution, Self-efficacy and Selfdetermination: Theories in Project-based Learning,” which outlined his research work on graduate capstone courses. The research division of the conference has a 70-percent rejection rate, making Johari’s paper rank among the top 30 percent of submissions. During the conference, Johari was asked to bestow the “Best Article of the Year Award” to the 2004 recipient. AECT is a professional association of educators and professionals whose activities are directed toward improving instruction through technology. It has become a major organization for those actively involved in the designing of instruction and a systematic approach to learning. It is the national and international proponent for the improvement of instruction and is the world's largest publisher of information concerning a wide range of instructional technology. Johari is a part of that publishing process, serving as a board member and editor of the international review section of the Educational Technology Research & Development Journal. He and other panelists answered questions from members during a special session of the conference. Johari holds master’s and doctorate degrees from Arizona State University. He is also a board member of the Journal of Visual Literacy, the International Visual Literacy Association, the International Council of AECT, and Cameron's McNair program.
