Cameron faculty member selected as one of 19
educators to receive fellowship from RTNDF
One of Cameron University’s own has been given an opportunity to add to his already advanced skill set.
Stephen Adams, an associate professor of radio/TV, became the first member of Cameron’s faculty ever
chosen to receive an “Educator in the Newsroom” fellowship when he was recently selected. Adams is one
of 19 educators from around the nation to participate in the program this year.
Each summer, the program, sponsored by the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation (RTNDF),
places university-level broadcast educators in radio and television newsrooms to refresh their skills and
master new technologies.
“It’s good to get back into the newsroom and see what has changed since I last worked in one,” said
Adams, who is already at his host station, WAKR-AM in Akron, Ohio.
Adams will return to Lawton in July after a four-week stay. He teaches several broadcasting classes at
Cameron, including “Fundamentals of Broadcasting,” “Basic Radio Production” and “Broadcast Writing.”
The “Educator in the Newsroom” project has been funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
for six years. The project’s primary goal is to improve the flow of information between journalists and
educators, a factor that is imperative to high-quality journalism education.
