members and officers initiated at ceremony
Cameron University’s music department added a new honor society to its repertoire.
Headed by an ensemble of students and Kirsten Underwood, an assistant music professor at Cameron, the
department formed the Zeta Beta Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon. The music honor society officially became
recognized when the society’s international president, Francis Irwin, installed the chapter at a special
ceremony at the end of the Spring 2005 semester.
Students inducted as the charter members of the chapter include president Sarah Sturdevant, vice
president Callie Grabow, treasurer Elijah Ramirez, historian Victoria Bullard, chaplain Adam Gutierrez,
steward Holly Van Pelt and chorister Clint Williams, all of Lawton; and secretary Lori Taylor from Duncan.
Also inducted were Cynthia Casarez, Ronny Helm and Kim Van Pelt, all of Lawton.
Cameron faculty members inducted into the society include Gregory Hoepfner and Dr. Dan Sheridan, both
assistant professors in the music and theatre arts department. Underwood was also elected to serve as the
chapter’s faculty advisor during the ceremony.
“This is an active honor society,” said Underwood, who became a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon as an
undergraduate at Willamette University in Salem, Ore. “We will present four programs a year, as well as
