CU professor of mathematical sciences selected
as associate editor of peer-reviewed journal
After an international search, Cameron University mathematical sciences professor Dr. Ioannis K. Argyros
has been selected to serve as one of the associate editors of the Journal of Applied Functional Analysis
(JAFA).
Argyros was chosen from a pool of 60 mathematicians worldwide. His appointment will last four years with
the possibility of and additional four-year appointment.
"I am truly honored to have been selected,” Argyros said. “There were many qualified candidates and it is
my hope to represent Cameron University on the national and international stage to the best of my ability."
Publisher by Nova Science, JAFA is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality, original
research articles, survey articles and book reviews from all sub-areas of applied functional analysis in the
broadest form, as well as its applications and its connections to other topics of mathematical sciences. The
journal has more than 3,000 international subscribers.
In addition to his teaching duties, Argyros regularly edits, writes and conducts research in the following
areas of mathematics: numerical analysis, numerical functional analysis, mathematical economics,
optimization, nonlinear programming, wavelet theory, mathematical physics and applied mathematics.

Argyros, who has taught at Cameron for 15 years with six previous years in higher education, has authored
13 books in computational mathematics and has published more than 450 peer-reviewed research articles.
In addition to his new post on JAFA, he currently serves on the editorial boards for the following peerreviewed mathematical journals: the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computing; Advances in
Nonlinear Variational Inequalities; International Journal of Computational and Numerical Analysis and
Applications; Computational Analysis and Applications; International Journal of Pure and Applied
Mathematics; Mathematical Sciences Research Journal; International Review of Pure and Applied
Mathematics and the International Journal of Applied Mathematical Sciences.
