Lawton Ike, Lindsay win CU Interscholastics
High school student competitors from Lawton Eisenhower and Lindsay walked away with the top spots April
2 at the 26th annual Cameron University Interscholastic Meet. It was Ike’s seventh straight interscholastics
title among larger schools, while Lindsay improved on last year’s runner-up honor to top defending
champion Comanche among small schools.
Hundreds of students from 31 area schools competed in 52 different academic events ranging from
accounting and biology to woodwind instruments and world history. Competition was divided into two
divisions, with Type I made up of eight larger Southwest Oklahoma schools and Type II made up of 23
smaller schools.
Lawton Eisenhower garnered 310 points to win first among Type I schools. Moore High School finished
second with 156 points and Yukon came in at third with 144. Westmoore and Lawton High schools
rounded out the top five with 89 and 83 points, respectively. Also competing were Altus, Anadarko and
Chickasha high schools.
Lindsay accumulated 150 points to top the Type II schools. Comanche finished second with 119 points
and Lawton Christian was close behind with 112. Rounding out the top five were Walters and Frederick
with 68 and 61 points, respectively. Other Type II competitors were Alex, Apache, Big Pasture, Central
High, Chattanooga, Cyril, Elgin, Geronimo, Grandfield, Granite, Hobart, Cache, Fletcher, Marlow,
Navajo, Rush Springs, Snyder and Waurika.
School scores were tabulated according to placings in individual events, ranging from eight points for a first
place finish to one point for fifth.
