Transformation of Graphs
For each of Chapter 3.6 problems 1 – 15:
Function:___________________________________________________________
Determine the following:
a) What is the corresponding “Reference function”?
b) What is the vertical shift?
c) What is the horizontal shift? (be careful: “x behaves opposite”)
d) Is the graph stretched/shrunk vertically? - If so by what factor?
e) Is the graph stretched/shrunk horizontally? - If so by what factor?
(be careful “x behaves opposite)
f) Is the graph reflected? If so is it a vertical reflection or horizontal reflection?
g) Both Graphs: Graph the reference function - Label
h) Top Graph: Graph any intermediate functions - Label
i) Bottom Graph: Graph the final graph - Label
Note: You do not have to graph intermediate functions – It is your choice – I have provided
an extra coordinate plane (top) that you may use if you would like to use it.
