K. Le got approval from Leticia Barajas to return to DHLI at .4 in August 2015. S. Tsuha reviews report of DHLI achievements/activities covering the period January 2014 to June 2015. 2014‐15: 71 events, 21 faculty worked with, 28 organizations, reaching 4,658 students reached. 2011‐15: 317 events, 56 faculty worked with, 110 organizations, reaching 14, 644 students reached. B. Kimble has questions about names/acronyms in the report chart. S. Tsuha will revise and email out. 2. Next Steering Committee Meeting to discuss Strategic Planning and Establishing Processes (5min.) – S. Tsuha Discussion Items Item: Staffing & Hiring – S. Tsuha & K. Le Key Consideration: 1. S. Tsuha leaving. Tsuha describes the challenges of running DHLI and the work required. 2. DHLI needs at least 2 people to keep the program activities running and to handle administrative tasks. Need to hire a replacement. 3. Committee reviews job announcement for DHLI new hire. 4. B. Kimble ‐ without a yearly work plan, it is hard to evaluate a new person. What roadmap does the person have to follow? What will the person be doing? 5. S. Tsuha ‐ the person would continue to keep current programs/items running – coordinate logistics and running the activities. 6. D. Gauthier ‐ hard part of a new hire is what the person is expected to do. What worked for current staff may not work. It depends on where we want to take DHLI. Do we want to be more of a presence regionally, public programs, or a floating program at the different colleges? 7. Committee discusses history of the program and what has been done and challenges. 8. Kenadi will return .4 in August and return full‐time after accreditation at LATTC is done. 9. Committee discusses making both DHLI positions the same and have an interchangeable job description. 10. The committee discusses how to hire a limited position to fill in and help Kenadi keep things going. The question about a permanent position is still open. 11. C. Friedlander ‐ Will the committee go with the person chosen from the hiring process that is being redone? 12. HR will have to review the changed job description. 13. Modify second bullet to delete work in the labor movement to experience with. 14. Add that it is a full‐time 15. B. Kimble thinks we can interview 1st week of September. Actions Taken (if any): 1. Use same NOI for the job. Bobbi will send out job Bobbi Kimble announcement to HR to get everyone’s approval. SC report and data of all activities, organizations the Shigueru Tsuha program has worked with, classes offered, and data about faculty and students Come up with plan to collect student and faculty Shigueru Tsuha data for fall 2015 5.
