REPORTS/RECOMMENDATIONS There being no objection, the four LASC design­build projects were taken up together. Bond­related LEED™ Project Presentations LASC – Design­Build Maintenance and Operations Building LASC – Design­Build Athletic Field House, Stadium LASC – Design­Build Student Services, Activity Center Copies of documents entitled “LEED™ Building or Infrastructure Project Executive Summary” were distributed for each of the aforementioned projects. Bond­related Non­LEED™ Building of Infrastructure Projects – Checklists LASC – Design­Build Parking Structure, West Entry Drive and Parking Lot Facilities Copies of a document entitled “Non­LEED™ Building or Infrastructure Project Executive Summary” were distributed for this project. Mr. Larry Eisenberg indicated that there will be one general presentation that will cover the four design­build projects. Dr. Jack Daniels III indicated that he has received positive feedback regarding these projects from faculty, students, and members of the community. He indicated that a community forum is scheduled for November 2006 at which he will provide updates regarding the status of the design­build projects. Mr. Edward Bilezikjian gave a PowerPoint presentation and described the building design, relevant statistics, and sustainable features for each project. Infrastructure Committee 1 October 4, 2006 Trustee Pearlman inquired if the bleachers at the athletic field would have backrests. Mr. Bilezikjian responded that the bleachers on the home team side would have backrests. Trustee Waxman inquired if security measures would be included in the design­build projects. Mr. Bilezikjian responded that his firm has hired consultants that are experts in this area to incorporate security systems in each individual building. Mr. Eisenberg indicated that there is a program entitled “Campus Security through Environmental Design” and stated that the standards of this program have been issued to the architects in order to insure that they incorporate these standards in the design­build projects. Mr. Bilezikjian continued his presentation. Trustee Field expressed her appreciation to Dr. Daniels for having the sign­off sheets signed by numerous individuals from the campus including administrators, gardeners, maintenance staff, etc. She requested that this be done for all projects throughout the District. Trustee Field requested information regarding the District’s status with respect to statewide design­build legislation. Mr. Bilezikjian presented a fly­through of the LASC design­build projects. Trustee Pearlman requested that the fly­through be presented to the full Board at a future Board meeting. (Trustee Field left at 12:28 p.m.) Motion by Trustee Waxman, seconded by Trustee Pearlman, to approve the concept for the four LASC design­build projects as presented.
