COLLEGE OF NURSING MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: DATE: RE: Academic Planning Committee Lorna Butler, Dean June 4, 2008 MN/NP Option Program This is to confirm that the College of Nursing is fully committed to offering the Nurse Practitioner Option of the Master of Nursing program. We are supportive of the curricular changes that have been proposed, including offering the equivalent of a 3 credit course in Pathophysiology and increasing the program by 3 additional credits in Advanced Health Assessment. Although the College will continue to seek resources from PCIP and the Government of Saskatchewan for the sustained funding of the program, we will continue to support the program from internal resources. Nurse Practitioner programs across the country have moved or are moving to graduate study. This program provides the citizens of Saskatchewan with additional, well qualified advanced‐practice nurses to offer excellence in primary health care, and the graduates are sought throughout the province, primarily in rural areas. ____________________________________ Lorna Butler, RN, PhD /ss
