Attached is a roster for worship leadership for the Fall Semester (Sept.-Dec.). If you are unable to lead on the day(s) allotted to you, it is your responsibility to find an alternate leader or trade days. Please indicate the name change on the schedule posted on the bulletin board beside the chapel or let Sandra know of the change. Services will take place in the St. Andrew’s chapel unless otherwise indicated. Some Wednesday STU services will take place at the Lutheran Seminary chapel. Normally Mondays and Wednesdays feature Services of Morning/Midday Prayer. You may use the service on p. 907 of Voices United or prepare another. Thursdays we normally celebrate the Eucharist (communion). You will find grape juice in the faculty/staff lounge refrigerator. The communion bread will be on the counter in the faculty/staff lounge by 10 AM on Thursday mornings. You will find worship resources on the Chapel Reserve shelf in the library. Communion liturgies need to be under the oversight of an ordained minister or a person licensed to celebrate the sacraments in the United Church in Saskatchewan. Such United Church celebrants who frequent St. Andrew’s College include Sandra Beardsall, Lorne Calvert, Faye Ford, Jennifer Janzen-Ball, Don Schweitzer, and Leslie Schweitzer. We have also student members who are ordained in the partner denomination (PROK) of the United Church: Eunkyu Ji and YongSeok Baek. Celebrants are also most welcome from beyond the college community. Services should be 20-30 minutes in length (remembering that announcements can take several minutes). Services start at 11:40 AM. Lectionary passages, usually for the following Sunday, are given for each day as suggested readings. The psalms or other choral readings in the Common Lectionary are chosen to relate to/echo the Hebrew Scriptures reading, so they are usually included with the Monday lection. Of course, you may choose to use psalms on other days as well, as they are the most ancient songs of the faith. You may also incorporate prayers from two prayer lists. The ecumenical prayer cycle features prayers for the world, and the “friends of the college” cycle remembers folk who support St. Andrew’s. If you want background information on the countries being prayed for and some suggested prayers, go to the World Council of Churches website (www.oikoumene.org) and click on the prayer cycle information on the right-hand side of the English homepage. We are fortunate to have as our chapel musician Tannis Schmidt. Please give her at least one day’s notice of the music you wish her to play for the service. She is open to helping you with music issues or decisions. Her contact information is at the bottom of the roster. You will note that the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad will join us for some of our scheduled liturgies, and also will be offering its own Anglican liturgies on Tuesday at 11:40, Wednesday at 8 AM and Thursday at 4 PM in the St. Andrew’s chapel. We are all welcome to these services. Please check with anyone on the Worship Committee if you have any questions or concerns. We hope that worship will be a rich experience in the community this year! 2
