JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Laboratory Technician
POSITION INFORMATION: Performs routine analytical and diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations according to
standardized procedures, records and reports results.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
1.
Patient Testing. Performs specialized tests on patients such as vestibule tests, bio-electronic exercising, and
physiological function tests. Monitors and observes patients and records information.
2.
Animal Testing. Performs specialized tests on experimental animals. Breeds, weighs, administers drugs, maintains a
census, takes blood pressures, and assists in surgeries.
3.
Biochemical Analysis. Performs specific biochemical analysis of body fluids for research purposes.
4.
Laboratory Testing. Assumes full responsibility for performing a variety of routine lab tests such as urinalysis,
blood counts, blood analysis, serological tests, pregnancy tests, etc.
5.
Procedure Assistance. Assists in more complex laboratory procedures.
6.
Data Maintenance. Records, compiles, and graphs data.
7.
Equipment Maintenance. Prepares laboratory equipment, orders and stocks supplies and equipment.
8.
As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED with 24 months of scientific college coursework
Experience:
Certifications/ Licenses:
Equivalent/ Substitution: Will accept an equivalent amount of training and experience in lieu of college coursework
Preferred: Certified Laboratory Assistant
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
