Maintenance Worker II Job Description TITLE: Maintenance Worker II JOB CODE: 5289 EFFECTIVE DATE: FLSA STATUS: NE EEO6 CODE: 7 = Service Maintenance PURPOSE: To provide sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks in one or more craft areas. Responsible for maintenance and repair work of plumbing, painting, electrical carpentry, air conditioning and refrigeration. Also responsible for the training of Maintenance Workers I's. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs maintenance repair work on heating and air conditioning equipment. Conducts daily inspections of assigned areas and makes repairs where necessary. Performs preventive maintenance, such as greasing and oiling equipment. Assists journeyman in major repair or construction projects. Performs semi-skilled electrical work. Keeps daily log sheets pertaining to equipment operation. Performs rough painting duties. Assists carpenters in construction and maintenance tasks. Performs related duties as required. Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: REPORTS TO: General supervision from leader or supervisor or assigned journeyman. SUPERVISION: N/A SUPERVISION-OTHER: May supervise Maintenance Workers I, laborers and helpers. REQUIRED EDUCATION: $education REQUIRED EDUCATION-OTHER: High school graduation or 3 years experience. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES-OTHER: REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/COMPETENCIES: Three years of experience in performing a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge of equipment used in all assigned trades areas. May be required to have a valid Texas Operator's License. Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Working conditions are considered acceptable, but occasionally involve exposure to one or more disagreeable elements, such as dirt, excessive heat, cold, wetness, prolonged standing, walking, lifting and carrying. Alertness and careful attention is required to avoid injury to self and to others. Specific job requirements or physical location of positions allocated to this classification render the position security and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
