Program Overview
Spend Spring Break 2016 in tropical Belize with Communication Studies!
Learn about the diverse cultures of Belize by immersing yourself in the
Belizean lifestyle, and enjoying the adventures Belize has to offer. All
majors are welcome to participate.
Academics
Rather than learning in a classroom, this program teaches you about
intercultural communication by allowing you to interact with and
immerse yourself within the diverse cultures of Belize. From visiting and
staying in Mayan villages, to learning about Garifuna culture by eating
local delicacies and learning local drum rhythms, this program will teach
participants about the cultures and communication styles of the people
of Belize. Media production students will also have the opportunity
to capture their experience and develop it into a media product.
Participants will earn academic credit for COM 294, section 1 or 2 for
this experience, and can use financial aid to help pay for program costs.
Education Abroad Grants offered by UNCW’s Office of International
Programs are also available.
