Communication Studies in Belize Short-term Spring 2016 ation Abroad — c u d Unive E rsity of Nor th Carolina Wilmington Program Overview Spend Spring Break 2016 in tropical Belize with Communication Studies! Learn about the diverse cultures of Belize by immersing yourself in the Belizean lifestyle, and enjoying the adventures Belize has to offer. All majors are welcome to participate. Academics Rather than learning in a classroom, this program teaches you about intercultural communication by allowing you to interact with and immerse yourself within the diverse cultures of Belize. From visiting and staying in Mayan villages, to learning about Garifuna culture by eating local delicacies and learning local drum rhythms, this program will teach participants about the cultures and communication styles of the people of Belize. Media production students will also have the opportunity to capture their experience and develop it into a media product. Participants will earn academic credit for COM 294, section 1 or 2 for this experience, and can use financial aid to help pay for program costs. Education Abroad Grants offered by UNCW’s Office of International Programs are also available.
