Belize is a melting pot of rich cultures, intertwining with world heritage sites that offer a glimpse into one of the world’s ancient civilizations, the Maya of Mesoamerica. Galen’s small friendly student population will make it easy to socialize and get involved with locals. Academics Students accepted into Galen University may receive credit toward university studies requirements, as well as their degree requirements for many majors. Course offerings include; accounting, anthropology, archeaology, animal science, computer science, economics, environmental science, forensic anthropology, international business, management, pre-veterinary and more! Housing Students have a choice of off-campus accommodation in nearby San Ignacio. Galen provides a free shuttle bus through the area. Most students elect to stay at the Log CabInn. This lodging is located in a pristine rainforest, close to remnants of ancient civilizations and with spectacular coral reefs nearby! Cost This program is available as a Study Abroad: •Study Abroad – This means you pay your tuition, housing, and meals abroad. There will be additional costs for international airfare, passport, health insurance and local transportation. Surrounding Areas Belize, often called “Mother Nature’s best kept secret”, is a tropical paradise nestled in the heart of Central America. It is the only English speaking country in Central America with a stable democracy of approximately 300,000 people. There are mountains, caves, inland tropical forests, pristine rivers, with many ancient archeological sites. Along Belize’s Caribbean coastline lies the second longest barrier reef in the world with seven protected are that are designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The biodiversity within the borders makes the entire country a living classroom. The rich culture of Belize reflects the diversity of the people who call Belize home: Maya, Creole, Garifuna, Mestizo, East Indian, Asian, Mennonite, North American and European. Financial Aid & Scholarships Federal and state financial aid may be applied toward this program.
