DIRECTING 1
Final Prompt Book Requirements (100 points)
In a New, Clean and Neat Three Ring Binder (10 points), please include the following:
1. Complete Script (25 points) – single sided sheets of the script cut and pasted
onto 8 ½ by 11 pages with all of your clear blocking notations on it for the
scene.
2. Properties List (5 points) – all props needed for the play.
3. Concept Statement for the Play (25 points) – this should include your ideas for
costuming, scenic design, and lighting as well as statements of theme and
mood for the piece (exactly what you did for the earlier assignment for either
Clean or Reluctant Prophets). Although you are only directing one scene in
class, please make sure your discussion refers to the play as a whole and then
specifically to your ideas for this scene within the overall concept.
4. Complete Character Analysis (25 points) – a detailed discussion of each
character, their objectives, personality traits, socioeconomic status, education,
etc. (ask me for a sheet if you need it) in the overall play and then more
specific discussion of the characters for the scene you are directing and how it
fits into the overall character growth and development for the play (This is
something you could use during rehearsals and discussions with actors and
then refer back to when working on the scene/play.).
5. Ground Plan (10 points) – a neatly drawn bird’s eye view of the set pieces
placed within this specific stage area. Use a ruler and make this neat and clean.
