**Graduate Assistant Opportunity** Engineering and Energy Project at Ridgeview High School, Dickenson County Public Schools Virginia Tech, Integrative STEM Education/Technology Education Assistantship: Dickenson County Public Schools, in collaboration with Virginia Tech’s Integrative STEM Education/Technology Education Program, is in search of a graduate assistant for the recently funded 1-­‐year Engineering and Energy Program at Ridgeview High School in Dickenson County. The 12-­‐month (20 hours per week) assistantship is scheduled to begin in August 2015. This position is renewable upon the presence of additional funding. The assistantship includes a monthly stipend of $1,600.00 and a tuition waiver for the 2015-­‐
2016 academic year. Responsibilities: The assistantship responsibilities include working with project personnel to provide support for the implementation of a new instructional pathway, develop instructional materials and units, provide direct instruction to students for the courses identified in the new engineering and energy pathway, and maintain all appropriate teaching licensure and endorsements. Responsibilities also include grading students’ work, providing other teachers with both technical and content support during the academic year, assist in hosting/managing meetings associated with the classes or project, including after-­‐school and summer content or project-­‐based workshops for high school and middle school students and staff. Qualifications: Applicants must be accepted as a student in a Virginia Tech graduate school program and be enrolled on a full-­‐time basis by August 2015. Applicants must also have the qualifications necessary to apply and receive a Technology Education teaching license through the Virginia Department of Education. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate strong communication skills and have knowledge of and experiences with technology and/or engineering education content, pedagogy, and processes.
