Re:
TRS Employee Contribution Increase
The Texas Legislature enacted new laws that will affect TRS Members. Senate Bill 1458 is
one of the laws passed, which is the implementation of a TRS rate increase for all
members. Effective September 1, 2015, there will be an increase for TRS active
members, from the current 6.7% to 7.2% per paycheck.
What does this mean? Every employee will experience a decrease in their net pay.
However, it will decrease your taxable income, which means a decrease in the amount
that is deducted for Federal Withholding (FIT).
What paycheck will this affect? All Bi-weekly employees will notice the change in their
September 18, 2015 paycheck and Monthly employees will notice the change in their
October 1, 2015 paycheck.
If you have questions, you may contact the Payroll Office at extension 1904.
