Concentration in Criminology
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Winthrop University offers a concentration in Criminology. This option provides
training for a wide variety of occupations
such as law enforcement and the judiciary.
Criminology does not focus on techniques of
police investigation or other applied courses,
but focuses on providing a broad liberal
arts education. Courses include Criminology,
Criminal and Juvenile Justice Systems, Law
Enforcement and Social Control, and Corrections.

and organization and operation of police
agencies and how they function in roles as
law enforcers, peace keepers, and service
agents in modern society.

SOCL337-Corrections: Society’s response in

institutions, and community corrections.
