Jan. 31, 2014 Second Annual Career Fair Saturday, Feb. 8 Mario Tricoci Shares Business Wisdom with COD Acclaimed salon owner Mario Tricoci recently visited COD’s campus, sharing his rags to riches story with nearly 150 attendees. As a young adult, Tricoci worked as an apprentice at a local salon in Italy. After coming to the U.S. with his family in the 1950s, Tricoci won a major award, the Grand World Supreme, in 1967 which prompted he and his brother to start their own salons. Today, Tricoci owns 15 salon and day spas throughout Chicago, with more than 1,400 employees. Tricoci noted that 92 percent of salons fail in the first two years and he is proud his salons are still running strong. “The opportunity you get is the opportunity you make,” Tricoci said during his program at COD, which was sponsored by the Business and Technology Division, Center for Entrepreneurship, and Continuing Education and Business Solutions.
