Tammy Duckworth (D-8) on a tour of the Homeland Security Education Center following a surprise salute from approximately 40 Suburban Law Enforcement Academy cadets. An Iraq War veteran and Black Hawk pilot, Duckworth’s chopper was hit during a mission by an RPG on Nov. 12, 2004. She earned a Purple Heart for her combat injuries, which included the loss of both legs and partial use of her right arm. During her visit, Rep. See you there! PACE Survey Reminder The Personal Assessment of Campus Environment (PACE) survey will close on Sunday, April 27. The College has conducted this survey every three years for the last 18 to obtain the perceptions of staff concerning the college environment, promote open and constructive communication, and identify strengths and opportunities for improvement. Inaugural Engineering Olympics Huge Success The inaugural Engineering Olympics competition at College of DuPage recently attracted more than 170 District 502 high school students who learned about and celebrated careers in engineering. During the competition, hosted by the COD Engineering Club, high school students strove for points in three heats involving timed creative design projects focusing on civil, electrical, mechanical and industrial engineering. "The U.S. is experiencing a shortage of qualified engineers right now," said COD Engineering instructor Scott Banjavcic. "We aim to get high school students excited about the wonderful experiences that a career in engineering can offer them. Engineering design is all about using mathematics and science to develop creative, innovative solutions to everyday problems that affect all of us."
