Two weeks prior to the event, the College’s Career Services area hosted a series of free information workshops that included topics such as LinkedIn, resume building, networking, interviewing skills and hot job trends. Click here for a Career Fair Resource Guide handed out to all participants. Julian Prendi New Associate Dean Julian Prendi is the new Associate Dean of Continuing Education/ Extended Learning at COD. The Naperville resident is drawing on his experience in municipal administration as he focuses on the operations of his division, working closely with Continuing Education Dean Joseph Cassidy. Prendi had thought about moving into higher education when he saw the opportunity at College of DuPage. While his new position is different from past ones, Prendi said he plans to apply the same skill sets and interests that he developed during his municipal work. “I’m really embracing the mission of College of DuPage and am excited to be working at an educational institution of this caliber,” he said. “Continuing Education/ Extended Learning has a diverse student base and an impressive array of services. I want to help this division make the experience for our students even more rewarding.” Read More COD Provides ‘Edge’ for Student Nissa Anderson Music major Nissa Anderson of La Grange Park is a Presidential Scholar and is enrolled in the Honors Program and Phi Theta Kappa at COD. “I know that I'm earning credentials that will give me an edge when competing for scholarships,” she said. “In this economy, that's extremely important to me. Private universities are expensive, and COD is a great way to keep on track academically while still being able to save money. I also enjoy how flexible COD is and how I can choose classes to fit my schedule.” Read More Automotive Tech Earns NATEF Accreditation The Automotive Technology program at College of DuPage has received master accreditation from the National Automotive Technician Education Foundation (NATEF). NATEF uses nationally accepted standards of excellence in such areas as instruction, facilities and equipment during its evaluation. The accreditation is for a period of five years and indicates that the program meets or exceeds these standards, said John Kronenburger, Associate Dean of Technology. “This voluntary accreditation distinguishes our program as a leader in automotive training,” he said. The program previously had been certified in six of the eight curriculum areas required for master accreditation, said Tom Robertson, co-coordinator of the Automotive Technology program. The two newly certified areas are Manual Drivetrain and Axles and Automatic Transmissions. “Both of these areas have undergone revisions to incorporate new technology. In addition, a new course, ‘Advanced Automotive Driveline,’ was developed to include additional needed content lab experience within the program,” he said.
