Julian Prendi New
Associate Dean
Julian Prendi is the new
Associate Dean of
Continuing Education/
Extended Learning at COD.
The Naperville resident is
drawing on his experience
in municipal administration
as he focuses on the
operations of his division,
working closely with
Continuing Education Dean
Joseph Cassidy. Prendi had
thought about moving into
higher education when he saw the opportunity at College of
DuPage. While his new position is different from past ones,
Prendi said he plans to apply the same skill sets and interests
that he developed during his municipal work. “I’m really
embracing the mission of College of DuPage and am excited to
be working at an educational institution of this caliber,” he
said. “Continuing Education/ Extended Learning has a diverse
student base and an impressive array of services. I want to

COD Provides ‘Edge’ for
Student Nissa Anderson
Music major Nissa Anderson of
La Grange Park is a Presidential
Scholar and is enrolled in the
Honors Program and Phi Theta
Kappa at COD. “I know that I'm
earning credentials that will give
me an edge when competing for
scholarships,” she said. “In this
economy, that's extremely
important to me. Private
universities are expensive, and COD is a great way to keep on
track academically while still being able to save money. I also
enjoy how flexible COD is and how I can choose classes to fit my

Automotive Tech Earns NATEF Accreditation
The Automotive Technology program at College of
DuPage has received master accreditation from the
National Automotive Technician Education Foundation
(NATEF). NATEF uses nationally accepted standards of
excellence in such areas as instruction, facilities and
equipment during its evaluation. The accreditation is for
a period of five years and indicates that the program
meets or exceeds these standards, said John
Kronenburger, Associate Dean of Technology. “This
voluntary accreditation distinguishes our program as a
leader in automotive training,” he said. The program
previously had been certified in six of the eight
curriculum areas required for master accreditation, said
Tom Robertson, co-coordinator of the Automotive
Technology program. The two newly certified areas are
Manual Drivetrain and Axles and Automatic
Transmissions. “Both of these areas have undergone
revisions to incorporate new technology. In addition, a
new course, ‘Advanced Automotive Driveline,’ was
developed to include additional needed content lab
experience within the program,” he said. Read More
