Reading Workshop- The Abominable Snow Teacher, predicting
what might happen next in the story, how do authors show
characters’ emotions without stating it directly, Snow Princess,
discussing how some pictures show the character’s reality while
others show her imagination, Tacky the Penguin, Toy Dance Party Writing Workshop – Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution, brainstorming
and writing 2 of our New Year’s Resolutions, Snowmen at Night,
writing ideas for what you would do if you were a snowman at
night, making our own snowmen at night, Exclamation Point,
punctuation hunt through Mo Willems’ books, discussing all the
punctuation we know and learned about Word Study - “op”, “ot” and “ock”, silly story, creating class lists
for each spelling pattern, word sort, Smartboard game,
assessment will be on Thursday January 14th
Math - The Quilt Story, The Quilt Makers Gift, The Patchwork
Quilt, brainstorming ideas for our quilt patterns, making our quilt,
discussing how the same quilt design can look very different
depending on the pattern people chose to create, “3 letter
addend” Rich Problem
