Approve minutes from 12/10/15 SCFC meeting.

Minutes from the 12/10/15 SCFC meeting were approved.

Chuck Harris report on 11 subsidized ports in Math 306

Chuck met with Guy Shepard and determined that the 11 active ports are used in the following manner:

1 wireless access point

2 printers

8 open ports

The room is equipped with a large touch presentation screen and notebook computers are locked down on central tables for student use. The notebook computers generally use the WAP for their connection.

Computers connect to the 8 open ports when classes or projects require greater bandwidth. According to

Guy, the need to connect to the 8 available ports is frequent.

Review Education Leadership SCF Expenditure proposal.

– Tabled

SCF Expenditure proposal from Education Leadership for 5 Double Robotics Robots, 5 iPad 4s, 5 audio kits was reviewed and tabled pending further information on the following.

*Description on how this is going to be an improvement to current technology.

Review Communication Sciences & Disorders SCF equipment expenditure proposal.

– Approved

SCF Expenditure Proposal from Communications Sciences & Disorders for 9 laptops for graduate students in the DeWit Ritecare Speech, Language, Hearing Clinic was reviewed and approved.

Review and vote on FY16 SCF funds allocated based on revised FY16 formula.

Draft FY16 SCF funds allocation was reviewed and approved for submission to the President and the

Board of Regents.

Port Subsidy discussion:

*Review Port Subsidy eligibility for consistency

There was discussion on types of ports eligible for SCF subsidy. Categories were determined as

*Student Labs

*Registrar Controlled Classrooms

*Department Controlled Classrooms

*Student Organizations

*Gray areas such as Law school shared ports, kiosks used by students

The Math Learning Lab has software installed that tracks student use and provides reports.

*Plan for an audit of current subsidized ports.

There was further discussion of an audit of current subsidized ports.

*option to set the amount at a fixed number (140K) and stop subsidizing ports

*audit SCF subsidized ports and determine if some categories of ports should no longer be subsidized due to lack of funds

*Consistency is needed on ports that are subsidized across campus

There were issues to resolve to move forward. There were no concrete plans made to conduct a SCFC subsidized port audit.

*Discuss creation of a document for port subsidy management to be posted on SCFC website.

Plan to post information about port subsidy review on SCFC website. Matt and Valerie will prepare a document and put it in Box for review.

Schedule SCFC meetings Spring Semester 2016

Wyatt will create a doodle poll and send to SCFC members for spring semester SCFC meeting scheduling purposes.

Other:

*Jennifer Mills has added Word Press to the front page of the SCFC website. Need to post information about port subsidy review along with FY16 Spring SCF equipment allocation reductions and FY17 employment allocation reductions. Need to emphasize that the FY16 Employment allocations have already been made and will not be affected. Add current and alumni profiles and success stories due to experience gained through SCF funded student employment. Matt and Valerie will prepare documents and put in Box for review.

*SCF funds Allocation Memo will include information about port subsidy review and employment allocation reduction, along with information about the Competitive Projects fund.
