SCIENTIFIC INVESTIGATOR I (ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE INVESTIGATOR, BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE) The Group Health Research Institute (GHRI) is seeking candidates for a new faculty position in behavioral science at the Assistant or Associate level. This investigator will have the opportunity to develop an independent research program and to collaborate with behavioral science, epidemiological, biostatistical, and health services researchers in a wide range of clinical and methodologic areas, including behavioral medicine, behavioral health, cancer, women’s health, preventive care, complementary and alternative medicine, and other research areas relevant to improving health and health care. This position allows a unique opportunity to examine health behavior and to test innovative behavioral interventions in a large, defined population. GHRI ( www.grouphealthresearch.org/ ) is an internationally recognized academic research organization that primarily conducts federally funded clinical, epidemiologic, and health services research. The faculty includes 34 doctorate-level investigators (including 7 doctorate-level biostatisticians), 10 masters-level biostatisticians, and 12 masters/doctorate-level research associates. GHRI and surrounding research centers are part of a vibrant research community. GHRI is also a member of several large, national research networks including the HMO Research Network, Cancer Research Network, Mental Health Research Network, and Cardiovascular Research Network. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a strong interest in active collaboration on public domain interdisciplinary research studies are required. Applicants with expertise in any relevant area of behavioral medicine or mental health are welcome, but areas of special interest include physical activity & obesity , substance abuse/addictive behaviors , and child or adolescent mental health . Appointees would be encouraged to explore affiliation with relevant departments in the University of Washington.
