Please explain/justify the new proposal or change. 
We request permission to change the name of the Computer System Technician (C.A.S.) to Computer
Support. The title Computer Support provides a better description of the curriculum contents and learner
outcomes for the program. Computer System Technician causes confusion with the unrelated field of
Computer Engineering. The title Computer Support maps directly to the Department of Labor’s
Occupational Handbook career field - Computer Support Specialists.
We also request modifying the program’s math requirement to M 115 Probability and Linear Math. The
current requirement is M 095 Intermediate Algebra, a pre-college development course.
What other programs are affected by your proposal?
Obtain signatures as requested above.
None
V Copies and Electronic Submission
Once approved, the original, a paper copy and an electronic file are submitted to the Faculty Senate
Office, UH 221 (camie.foos@mso.umt.edu).
VI Department Summary Required if several proposals are submitted. In a separate document
list program title and proposed change of all proposals.
