Jennifer Herndon Vinson, Ed.D., CCC-SLP Professor and Program Director – Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD) jennifer.vinson@aamu.edu Office phone: (256) 372-4035 Location: CCN 104 / Office #16 Dr. Jennifer Herndon Vinson received her doctorate in Administration from Nova Southeastern University; masters in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from Radford University and bachelors in Speech Pathology / Special Education from Alabama A&M University. Dr. Vinson is Professor and Program Director of the Communicative Sciences and Disorders Program. She has been employed by the University since 1982. Dr. Vinson has served in elected and appointed state and national positions over her career. In the state she has served as the elected President, Vice President and Membership Secretary of the Speech and Hearing Association of Alabama (SHAA) and as the elected President, Secretary and Treasurer of the North Alabama Speech and Hearing Association (NASLHA). Nationally, she serves as the appointed Alabama Liaison for Public Schools for the American Speech-LanguageHearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Vinson has received several national awards including the ASHA National Advisor of the Year Award, the ASHA Golden Apple Award and six ASHA ACE Awards. In the state she has received the SHAA Honors of the Association Award, the Distinguished Service Award, the Presidential Gavel Award and seven Certificates of Appreciation. For professional volunteerism, the Community Action Agency awarded her the 25 Year Volunteer Award and she has received numerous Appreciation Awards from local school systems in the north Alabama region. Her research and teaching interests include vocal disorders, vocal hygiene/conservation; curriculum change in teacher preparation programs; classroom acoustics, and diagnostic/therapeutic techniques for hard of hearing/deaf, voice and stuttering patients.
