Students will use the Spark Fun Inventors Kits and laptops to perform project and program development, creating interesting games and electronic projects. 02. GIS and GPS Applications in Forestry Management Presented by Angela Waupochick, Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohican Indians and Tony Waupochick, Menominee Tribal Enterprises This workshop will introduce students to the basics of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and how they are applied to forestry management. Students will use field computers and mobile software to collect forest data. 03. Medical Nutrition Therapy Presented by Tianna Hamm and Amanda Shaker, Dietetic Students, UW-Stevens Point Want to explore the science of nutrition? Dive into the dietetics field in this workshop by doing hands-on activities to learn about common medical conditions that require special diet orders. Songbird Banding Presented by Heather Lumpkin and Sarah Besadny, North Lakeland Discovery Center Learn about bird ecology and research through bird banding. During this workshop wild songbirds will be tagged with a small metal band with a unique 9-digit identification number. Discover how scientists use bird banding to uncover surprising facts about a bird’s lifespan, migration route, and behavior as you see live birds up close. 06. STEM Robotics: First Tech Challenge! Presented by Michael Wojtusik, Rhinelander School District Rhinelander School District Tech Challenge will blow your mind with the things that can be accomplished with robotics especially when students work together. The student club will demonstrate robotics using motors, servos, mechanical devices, cable, tracks, and chains to accomplish an extremely difficult challenge.
