Workshop length and focus can be tailored to meet specific needs and may be offered for credit or not. Topics may include school grounds or school forest use, school building efficiency, Project Learning Tree, climate change, renewable energy, sustainable transportation, or other topics related to environmental and sustainability education. College of Natural Resources - Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education Overview Courses How to Register The Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education (WCEE) fosters universal environmental and social responsibility through the development, dissemination, implementation and evaluation of sustainability and environmental education programs in PK-12 schools and communities. For more than 25 years the WCEE has created and offered professional development for Wisconsin educators in environmental education. (Online, 1 cr) SPECIAL TOPICS: A variety of special topics courses focusing on wide-ranging environmental education themes are offered annually as NRES 610, 621 and 631. These course numbers are repeatable up to three times under different subtitles. Professional Development Plans The WCEE has developed PDP (Professional Development Plan) samples that illustrate how environmental education can be infused into teacher PDPs. The samples, which have been reviewed by educators and a representative from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for accuracy and relevancy, are available on our website under “Professional Development.” In addition, WCEE staff member Gretchen Marshall is a certified PDP reviewer and is available as a Higher Education Representative for your review team. Please Note: WCEE opportunities are not part of a master’s degree program and do not directly lead to licensure. However, you may wish to pursue a master’s degree or 615 Environmental Science licensure and incorporate WCEE coursework into your program.
