ALUMNI FOCUS
My name is Yin Xu, and I graduated
from UW-Stevens Point in May, 2012
with a degree in Computer Information
Systems (CIS). I now live in Silicon
Valley, California with my wife, working
as a software engineer. One of the most
important things I received from UWStevens Point was not only knowledge,
but how to learn. Software engineers face
new technology every day, and we must
learn quickly. UW-Stevens Point was also
the starting point for the jobs I have had.
The chairman of CIS, Professor Robert
Dollinger, recommended me for my very
first job, a SharePoint Web Developer
at UW-Stevens Point. I am so grateful
he recognized my hard work. One of
my co-workers recommended me for a
programmer position at the Marshfield
Clinic. I worked there for a year after
graduation. As I look back to my jobs,
they are very much connected, and they all
started from UW-Stevens Point. I am glad
I chose UW-Stevens Point.

ISSO NEWS
Hi! My name is Ta Xiong and I’m
the Honors Intern at the International
Students and Scholars Office. I am
majoring in elementary education with
a minor in teaching English as a Second
Language. I love meeting new people
and traveling to new places. When I
graduate and am teaching-certified, I
want to travel the world to teach children
in underdeveloped countries. I don’t
know where I would like to go first, but
I’d like to think that it’ll be warmer than
winter here in Wisconsin. I have only
been outside of the United States twice in
my life. I was born in Thailand, but my
family moved to Wisconsin when I was
one year old. Not too long ago, I traveled
to Trinidad and Tobago to work with the
leatherback sea turtles. I think traveling
is something everyone should do if they
get the chance. I’m very jealous of all the
international students studying away from
their home countries. As I said before, I
love meeting new people and making new
friends. So please feel free to say hi to me
or strike up a conversation if you ever see
me around campus!
