2016-2017 Fiscal Year Faculty Development Committee Results FDC Members: A. Berns, P. Beck, L. Bergeron, C. Czerwinski, K. Hawkes, M. Litster, M. Pettit, E. Rozek, D. Thoune Advisor: B. Cerbin Summary The FDC met September 16th through November 11th. We reviewed a total of 18 proposals: 9 4 Professional Development (PD) proposals Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) proposals 5 Teaching Innovation (TI) proposals After careful review and discussion using the scoring guide we individually and anonymously awarded points for each proposal. The resulting ranking was provided to us and informed our discussion of acceptance and funding awards. We identified a total of 10 accepted proposals from the following categories: 3 3 Professional Development (PD) proposals Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) proposals 4 Teaching Innovation (TI) proposals Then we created two options for awarding funding based on availability1 of funds (Figure 1). Option A awards the top 2 proposals at 100% and the remaining accepted proposals at lesser percentages based on merit. Option B only changes the funding amounts for the top two proposals, keeping the percentage calculations from option A. Option B funds the top two proposals at 90%. We suggest moving forward with option A unless fringe benefits are too high and then option B would be appropriate. 1 Due to the need to account for fringe benefits we created two options for awarding funding Figure 1.
