Position: Technical Support – 2 positions
Department: Information Technology
Hayes Hill Title: IS Specialist (S45DN)
Position Description: This position will assist the Client Services and Technical Support (CSTS) division
of Information Technology in the delivery of exceptional customer service and technical support. The
position requires frequent interaction with students, faculty and staff and will be responsible for accurately
recording, identifying, escalating, and/or resolving technical issues and requests. This position is also
responsible for providing leadership to CSTS day-to-day operations, including but not limited to, staff and
resource scheduling, development and management of technical documentation, coordination and delivery
of various technology training and orientation services. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical
and troubleshooting skills in a wide variety of software & hardware technologies and have a desire to work
in a customer service oriented environment.
Department/University Description: The Information Technology department is housed within the
Division of Academic Affairs. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, part of the University of
Wisconsin System, is a leading four-year comprehensive institution located in scenic Central Wisconsin.
Approximately 9,300 students are enrolled with a student faculty ratio of 20:1 in the classroom. While
primarily serving undergraduates through a variety of baccalaureate programs, UW-Stevens Point also

Qualifications:
Required:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field, or equivalent relevant education combined
with demonstrated, progressive experience in a support environment.
- Two or more years or of related work experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical hardware and software support in a Windows and/or Mac
environment.
- Experience with the Windows Office Suite
- Demonstrated experience providing support and problem solving for a variety of technical issues.
Preferred:
- Ability to diagnose complex hardware and software problems in both Windows and MAC environments.
- Ability to translate complex technical information into usable, easy-to-follow instructions either in written
or oral forms.
- Ability to prioritize and handle issues of urgent nature in a timely manner.
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- General knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts.
- Experience utilizing Information Technology Service Management software, such as BMC Footprints.
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Proven track record of excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability working with diverse populations and technical skillsets.
Appointment Date: March 14, 2016 or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: This is a 12-month, full-time academic staff appointment. The minimum of the
annual salary range is $41,750. Two positions are being recruited through this vacancy; core hours for one
of the two open positions are 10:00am – 7:00pm.
