Video Production: June 19-25, 2016
Join Us! Camp COFAC offers an annual summer video
production camp at UW-Stevens Point (UWSP), offered by the
College of Fine Arts & Communication (COFAC) and directed
by Chris Shofner of the UWSP Division of Communication.
The High School Video Production session is held at UWSP’s
Communication Arts Center and culminates in a screening of an
original work produced by the campers on Saturday, June 25.
The camp is open to students entering grades 9-12 as well as
graduating seniors.
The College of Fine Arts & Communication also offers a Camp
COFAC specifically for musicians and one for artists. Choose to
attend one of these great camps and gain valuable experience,
learn new techniques, and develop long-lasting friendships while
exploring the vibrant university community of UWSP.
An Intensive Week of Production Experiences
Screenwriting
Campers will develop an original short film script in small groups to be filmed and edited during the week.
Video Camera Operation
Campers will operate high-definition video cameras during the production of an original short film and explore elements
of shot composition. Do we need a close-up or a long shot? You decide!
Audio Production
Campers will explore audio production techniques for movie making including various microphones and recording
methods while producting original sound effects for the short film. Did you know that most movies use very little of the
sound recorded on set?
Lighting
Campers will explore various lighting techniques and environments. Lighting is a key element in achieving quality images
and developing style. What’s the difference between lighting for a romantic comedy or a horror film?
Acting
Campers will serve as the talent for the short film. Each team member will have the opportunity to be part of the on-screen
and behind-the-scenes production processes.
Editing
Campers will be exposed to various video editing techniques and principles.
Each camper will edit their own version of their group’s original production
using Final Cut Pro X software on an iMac computer.
